Overview
Description
This course is the first in the sequence of two, three-credit courses constituting the social work field education program required of Advanced Generalist Practice Master of Social Work (MSW) students. It consists of completing 225 hours at a practicum site within an approved field setting that provides opportunities for students to demonstrate advanced generalist social work competencies and integration of professional content through a seminar course.

Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate competence in field practicum indicative of advanced generalist social work practice as outlined by the Council on Social Work Education social work competencies and complete 225 hours of Field Practicum.
- evaluate and analyze effective implementation of principles and policies guiding social workers, laws governing social workers mandated reporting laws, and other pertinent laws associated with the practicum setting.
- apply self-awareness and professional skills demonstrating leadership and autonomy in working through complex problem-solving during field experiences, supervision, and engagement in seminar course.
- integrate critical thinking skills that address social welfare issues and common professional dilemmas utilizing knowledge, values, and skills acquired in coursework through field experiences, supervision, and engagement in seminar course.
- initiate anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into field practicum activities through advocacy and collaboration.
