- articulate several theoretical and procedural approaches to advocacy in the public and private sector.
- develop and, both orally and in writing, explain and defend legislative proposals or policies in an area of their interest.
- explain to an interested audience the major benefits of their legislative or policy proposal and respond to criticisms of it.
- apply the perspectives and methodologies of different advocacy approaches to the proposals they develop.
- critically evaluate the theoretical literature on advocacy as it applies to the practical development of advocacy positions.
