Learning Outcomes
- distinguish between and analyze approaches to the comparative study of politics, the ways in which these approaches explain outcomes, and the ways these approaches divide the subfield.
- define key concepts in the subfield of comparative politics, such as state, nation, democracy, and revolution, and evaluate existing conceptualizations and measures of these concepts.
- describe and analyze the intellectual history and current state of the subfield with regard to the study of regimes, political economy, and violence.
- identify and assess explanations for political outcomes.
