Description
This course is used by graduate programs to administer comprehensive examinations either as an end-of-program comprehensive examination or as a qualifying examination for doctoral candidates prior to being advanced to candidacy.

Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate comprehensive understanding of key concepts, theories, and methodologies in physics through successful completion of the written comprehensive examination set by the department’s comprehensive exam committee.
- solve advanced problems at graduate level in the general physics subjects of mathematical physics, classical mechanics, electricity and magnetism, quantum theory, and statistical mechanics during the Written Comprehensive Examination.
- synthesize interdisciplinary knowledge and perspectives acquired throughout the PhD program to address comprehensive examination prompts effectively, showcasing a holistic understanding of physics principles and methodologies.
