- utilize knowledge, skills and theory from previous coursework and current evidence to assess, diagnose, and manage acute, critical and chronic illnesses.
- introduce typical and atypical presentations of complex critical illnesses including urgent and emergent physical and mental health conditions.
- formulate a diagnosis, considering possible differential diagnoses based on data collected.
- formulate a plan of care to address complex critical physical and mental health care needs.
- integrate the competencies of NONPF.
- discuss effective collaboration strategies with both formal and informal caregivers and professional staff to achieve optimal care outcomes.
- discuss and navigate transitions between levels of care and across the healthcare delivery system.
- identify strategies to achieve patient care goals, promote stabilization and restoration of health.
- discuss End of Life decision making with patients and/or families of critically ill patients.
- coordinate care needs of patients and families with critically ill conditions.
- work collaboratively with a variety of health professionals to promote continuity of care for critically ill patients and families within the critical care setting.
