- identify and describe factors that influence human population growth and evaluate how world population has changed over time and is predicted to change in the future.
- explain the challenges of feeding a growing human population and the impacts of agricultural practices (past, present, and future) on the environment.
- identify major air, water, and soil pollutants/contaminants and the major sources, impacts, and possible methods of reduction of each.
- explain the cause of stratospheric ozone depletion and its consequences, and the steps taken to address the issue.
- describe past, present, and future impacts of global climate change including the influence of human activity on the Earth’s climate systems.
- compare different energy sources utilized by societies, identifying the potential benefits and drawbacks associated with each and taking into account our future energy needs.
