This course provides students with an understanding of the psychological concepts that are relevant to nuclear deterrence. Students will examine rationality and those elements of psychology that impact individual decision-making and the risk/reward calculation so important for developing effective deterrence strategies. Understanding how to effectively shape perceptions of risk for the sake of maximizing the success of deterrence is at the heart of this course.
