Learning Outcomes

  • develop skills in the art of teaching instruments in the woodwind family. They will learn information applicable to all woodwind instruments, such as basic principles of sound production and musicality, and will be introduced to standard pedagogical literature and its use.
  • demonstrate pedagogical skills as they troubleshoot particular problems encountered in playing and teaching woodwind instruments.
  • develop intermediate-level playing skills on instruments in the woodwind family. In addition to the experience of playing, this portion is also useful for educators in knowing how to assist their woodwind students.
