- take part in successful teaching experiences with elementary school students under the mentorship of experienced teachers.
- identify best practices of various components of teaching, e.g. curricular choices, sequencing, and assessment, utilized by elementary music teachers.
- discuss how students of different abilities can be accommodated in the music classroom.
- identify classroom management strategies and describe the impact that management (or lack thereof) has on a music classroom.
- reflect upon and compare curricular choices of elementary music teachers.
- observe and apply routines, procedures, and schedules that make elementary music programs work successfully.
- discuss the impact of National, State, and District Standards as well as the Common Core on music programs.
- articulate how students and student learning impact teacher choices in the music classroom through written assignments and verbal discussions.
