Description
This course concentrates on the research process in mass communication. It is designed to provide you with a broad understanding of research concepts, processes, techniques, and strategies of media research. We will examine research conducted in both the professional and academic setting, helping you to become intelligent consumers of social science research. The course will include instruction in quantitative and qualitative methods, covering both research design and data collection. The overall purpose of this course is to help you understand the role of research in media institutions and the mass communication process. Upon completing this course, you should be able to evaluate and interpret mass communication research and understand the uses and benefits of various methodological approaches.
