- articulate OSI and TCP/IP data communications models, the functions at each layer and the equipment and protocols that enable data communication across the protocol stack.
- use tools like Wireshark and ARP to examine and troubleshoot data packets.
- design and manage a small local area network using appropriate configuration (physical topology, logical topology, access methods and media).
- assess and monitor wireless networks, wireless access points, and network bandwidth.
- develop specific and reasonable plans to secure networked communications environments by identifying assets, threats, vulnerabilities and describing appropriate network controls and protective measures.
- evaluate and apply mechanisms for monitoring, controlling, troubleshooting and reporting network performance in order to ensure network communications occur as intended.
