Learning Outcomes

  • identify and describe core business processes such as order to cash, purchase to payment, material requirements planning, and warehouse organization.
  • identify and describe common organizational business units such as business areas, divisions, purchasing and sales organizations.
  • use business process modeling tools to reverse engineer as-is processes and design reengineered to-be process. Students will describe processes with event triggers including timer and message events.
  • use the SAP software to gain proficiency with the purchase to payment process by issuing RFPs, evaluating those RFPs, selecting a vendor, issuing a purchase order for goods, receive goods, and issue a goods receipt, process an invoice, and finally payment.
  • use the SAP software to gain proficiency with the order to cash process by issuing a sales quotation, issuing a sales order in response to an external purchase order, process fulfillment tasks (goods issue), send invoices, and process incoming payments.
  • assess common manufacturing processes and manufacturing elements by using the SAP software to examine bills of material, product routings which describe manufacturing work steps, and work areas.
  • design a warehouse having different types of storage locations, put away areas, and shipping areas.
  • evaluate processes by applying process management techniques such as IS0 9000, CMMI, and Six Sigma.
