- demonstrate in writing and/or classroom participation a knowledge of the political, social, and cultural history of Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries.
- analyze and interpret primary source documents in words and images that pertain to the social, political and/or cultural life of early modern Europe.
- interpret secondary sources and comprehend arguments that pertain to the historiography of early modern Europe.
- distinguish religious controversies resulting from the Reformation and be able to formulate an overview of popular culture, contemporary interpretations of nature, philosophical debate, and private life.
