Overview
Description
This course uses petroleum industry data sets and concepts to characterize subsurface geology in sedimentary basins. It presents approaches and techniques for oil and gas exploration and describes how those techniques might be applied to the exploration for other natural resource types. The goal of the course is to introduce students to concepts and techniques that are routinely applied to reconstruct geologic history and define resource distribution in sedimentary basins around the world.
