• demonstrate understanding of how children learn and develop, as well as how they differ in their approaches to learning, actively supports student learning.
• demonstrate his/her knowledge of the discipline(s) and his/her ability to design and develop a curriculum for which students learn in meaningful ways.
• plan and use a variety of instructional materials, knowledge of group and individual motivation, as well as effective verbal and nonverbal communication to create a positive and effective learning environment.
• understand and use formal and informal assessment strategies to plan, evaluate and strengthen instruction that promotes continuous intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of each student.
• evaluate the effects of his/her choices and actions on others and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally. The teacher candidate fosters relationships with university and school personnel, colleagues, parents/guardians, and agencies in the larger community to support students learning and well-being.
