  • define and explain what are the historically significant developments in the three subject areas of this course, obscenity, pornography, and the sexual exploitation of children, from past to present and how these subjects are intertwined.
  • identify, discuss, and apply substantive and procedural law, including state, federal and constitutional provisions, involved with crimes addressing the three subjects of this class.
  • define and explain various techniques and strategies for investigating crimes involving the three subjects and analyze and evaluate cases studies with special reference to steps leading to successful investigation and prosecution.
  • explain and analyze the effects of the crimes studied in the three subject areas on the child victims and their families and more broadly on the community and nation.
  • identify the psychological and emotional effects of working on cases involving obscenity, pornography, and the sexual exploitation of children and explain the psychology of coping with such work.
