Learning Outcomes
- explain the ecology, classification, and morphology of a large number of taxa (species, genera, etc.), including the taxonomic relationships and key characteristics of organisms and lineages (things that all biologists should know).
- answer fundamental questions about the causes and consequences of diversity. For example: “What is the most common mode of speciation?”, “Do all lineages of organisms diversify at a similar rate?”; and “How does organismal diversity affect ecological processes?”.
- read and discuss scientific literature.
- synthesize orally or in writing as assessed by a presentation and/or written report significance of current topic as presented in this course.
