This introductory course is designed to teach the basic concepts and methods of linguistic anthropology. We will begin the course with a basic introduction to what is language and linguistic analysis. Topics include language change, variation, acquisition, socialization, world view and how language is used to create and recognize differences along the lines of age, gender, race/ethnicity, class, and sexual orientation.
