Overview
Description
This course is intended for graduate students with an interest in insects. It is an extensive overview of the internal workings of insects on molecular, cellular, organ, and whole-organism levels. Throughout evolution, animals have adopted different strategies for solving biological problems such as acquiring nutrients, locomotion, respiration, abiotic stress, and resisting pathogenic factors, among others. We will explore these strategies in this course and nuances in different insect groups.
