Learning Outcomes
- describe different sheep management systems and marketing strategies used in the Western United States.
- demonstrate application of managerial skills and production tools and techniques through both laboratory exercises and the required 3-day lambing experiential activity.
- apply knowledge from Livestock Production (AGSC 100), Nutrition (AGSC 206/406), Anatomy and Physiology (VM 328), genetics, diseases, and management and business principles to solve problems associated with a sheep operation.
- communicate management decisions and enterprise business plan orally to their peers and invited guests in a professional manner.
- develop a research proposal utilizing Merino and Merino-cross sheep to address sheep management, sheep reproduction, sheep nutrition, wool or meat marketing, or other production concerns (see ASI Research, Development and Education Priorities Report 2016).
- present the research proposal in a professional manner to CABNR administrators and faculty.
